Distance Learning for Early Education

Hey teachers! Well here we are in May and distance learning is still a thing. I know that most of us are becoming pros at this since we have been doing it for such a long time but with that also comes boredom. I know that I am always looking for ways to switch up the distance learning meeting so that my students and myself stay engaged. You know that I am a big fan of sight word games and sometimes they aren’t possible right now but I want to share with you distance learning ideas that will work and keep learning fun!

Before I dive into ways to make distance learning I want to be clear that YOU are doing a great job, I know that there are times that we feel we aren’t doing our best work but we are all new at this. My rule of thumb is take it like you are a first year teacher. Be open to learning new things when it comes to distance learning and you will be a pro in no time.

I know that it can be nerve wracking to be online with all the families. You have mom, dad, sister, brother and the family dog watching you. That is something that is tough. Let’s be reminded that you are also tough! I created this post so you can have ideas for virtual learning. These ideas can be implemented into your lesson plans. They are geared to early education as well so they are great for preschool all the way to 1st grade. I will say that when I have these activities the older siblings even like to join in. Sometimes for forget that “older” kids are still kids!

A lot of these activities are ones that you can do in the classroom as well so I am sure that you are going to be familiar with them. Just pretend that you are in circle time with your class. They will LOVE IT! I know that we are being advocates for getting students to move around and now they are expected to sit in front of the computer. These distance learning activities are ones that kids can get up and move around with! I sure hope that you enjoy them!

I have added them to this blog post so you can also access them on your phone!
